Shore has different sorts of photographs that he takes such as photographs of gas stations, portariats of people and more. There are many series within Shores photographs but the ones I had focused on were his meals that he documented.  I chose to focus on this one  because all of the photographs were all taken the same way.

Comparing these photographs to his gas station ones, Shores takes these photographs at a specific angle. The angle were always taken from above and were always far from the meals. They were never taken up close and compared to his other photographs they were never taken straight and always seemed diagonal.

The main purpose of these photographs were to show his foods and I feel as if he was successful in doing so as he didn’t care what the background was or he made the background as bland as possible.

Speaking of bland, Shore said he has an interest in uncommmon places therefore he never looked for unique and aesthetic places and only chose places that were comforting to him.

The arrangements of the meals and cutlery’s looks as if they only took the photograph the way it is and left
If the background of the image was a more eyecatching based on its colour, it would always be plain whereas tables that did have patterns (wooden table) it would be darker - This was a way to ensure that the most eyecatching subject would be the food.
With most of his images, shore arranges the lighting of his photographs to highlight the meals and cutlery’s

A way in which i imitated Shores photographs were to relate it back to me. I focused most all my photos on my desk which is the place where i experience my day in the most as well as the objects that I use everyday. I captured these photos by standing on my chair and making sure that i always capture the photo at an angle. To capture these photos, i used my phone and flashlight to really darken the background yet highlight the objects within my desk.

In relation to experiences, Shore is not picky with his photographs. He really does show experience by showing his true reality of how he experiences the world around him. His photographs are very bland which people didn’t like because it was very common and the audiences wanted to experience something different.
